What you are saying makes sense. Filters exist for specific software, but not for specific file formats.

STL files are more of a universal transfer format (like Step, and Iges). Pretty much any file you find in the library can be converted into an STL file via a number of routes including:

• Posting a message asking someone to convert it
• GrabCAD Workbech does some file conversions
• GrabCAD Print accepts a number of native 3D formats
• There are some online based conversion sites

It would be interesting to learn if there are any search terms/functions which the library understands. It looks like typing in STL followed by whatever model is desired brings back only models which have an STL version.

I tried "STL Hammer" as a test.

You can easily find STL by filtering .............

Please download and install FreeCAD. It's Free! You can import step and iges files from GrabCAD into FreeCAD, and convert and save them to stl before printing them.

Hi Guys, i did have the same issue, i always search for jet engines like the KJ66 Turbine one but i found it in .step and it cant print, but i did have the solution, tap in google Cad Exchanger this is a program which converts files into .stl to print. you can have a free licence by signing up with our email and have a 30 days trial for free

Why would you go and sign up for a free 30 day license when FreeCAD is free and does NOT require anyone to register or sign up and does not expire. Besides FreeCAD converts to many other file formats that Google can't. Let's support the open source community instead of multi-billion dollar companies. Thanks.

Check out Thingiverse.com, so many things and ideas, most of the time you will find parts you looking for that has already been drawn and converted to stl files.
