i want to change size of my degsins from the old file assemby but i don't want my old designs change because some file part of them link together. How can i create a new file assemby the same old degsigns and free repair without worrying about change from old designs.
thanks you
Save as, and change than the New template. Youre old one will be unchanced.
thanks.. can you show me how can save as all file part in a file assembly?
so when i save as a file assembly and fix a part in it i seen old file assembly also change together. how can i break the link with them.
Agreed, however, have you consider using a PDM software to manage your design replication/design cloning/"design copy"???
Because when you talk about assembly templates that can adapt to any design condition that change, you are in essence, talking about "parametrization" of a bespoke design. Other words:
1- You want an assembly that contains all the parts that you need.
2- Every part will change/adapt to any modification that you desire therefore the final product (assembly) will change accordingly in dimensions not in parts.
3-BUT, YOU WANT THAT THE NEW ASSEMBLY WILL NOT AFFECT PREVIOUS JOBS/PROJECTS THAT ARE BASICALLY THE SAME THING WITH DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS!
So, the conclusion and the answer to your problem is:
A- Inventor ilogic copy design
B-Autodesk Vault basic/collaboration/professional
And the reason behind this answer is: Because you want to generate a new design for new projects without modify the old one, so parts needs to be renamed and store in different location.
i understand.... thanks you
How do make it separate assembly without any old design changed ?
Solution: That is type 1.
Through save as assy.
If in Every part No will be change.
Solution: That is type 2.
Through pack and go
if not required any part name change direct part edit change and save
I use "iLogic Design Copy"
It can change the name of every file in the assembly, except files from a Library.
You access it by opening Inventor, and before opening a file. It's in the "Tools" tab.
Guys, I invite you to have a look on internet and find the correct (best practices) for this "scenario/situation/issue/way of doing things/etc"
It is not a good practice, using functionalities that are not meant to be use for certain specific purpose, meaning: is not good mixing potatoes with guava jam.
There only 2 ways
1- ilogic Design copy (when you do not have access to Autodesk Vault)
or
2- Autodesk Vault.
The disadvantage of using #1 is that you cannot control the history of the files, with vault you can go back in time (similar to Microsoft Windows Shadow Copy functionality) in order to amend or bring some solutions from the past to the present. Among others things you can also copy design, and have different plays with the database, etc in order to get certain things.
In the same way: It is always a good practice re-utilise previous design but it is mandatory to rename files etc, because : YOU NEED TO TRACK COMPONENTS DURING THE LIFE CYCLE OF THE PROJECT, SINCE CONCEPTION+3d DESIGN+2d DRAWINGS+FIT-OUT/ASSEMBLY/+LIFE+REFURBISH/ETC.
YOU NEED FILE NAMING LINK TO PROJECT/CONTRACT NAMING
For makeing new assembly we use Assembly copier, this is inventor plug in that comes with Woodwork for Inventor
Very easy is to gives new names and part nr, there is replace function for every data field. You can make copy also idw-s and skeleton ipt -s
Thanks you.... this video is great for me...
Thanks you... i dit it by ""iLogic Design Copy". This is the fist times i use it.
Use ipart and iassembly in inventor. then you can have many tables of different sizes on Iparts.
