Designing a car top

Look for some guidance. I’m trying to scan and then print a plug for a fiberglass top for my factory five cobra. I’ve already pulled a fiberglass part from my second design that I need to tweak.

My idea is to scan the top left hand side use measurements to produce the right hand side. I know i would need to print the top in pieces and then combine them. Any suggestions on a easy to use cad software for a beginner?

interesting project. I'm a bit bias, but I would say solidworks. It's simple, easy to use and should be able to cater for all your beginner needs. If you get stuck, message me and I am happy to help you. :)

I should have my first scan by this weekend. I was looking at Solid works

from the YouTube videos. Another on that looked interesting was self cad.

If you dont mind me asking how do you get the equiptment to scan cars. its often very very expensive so have you found a cheaper solution.

If so i would love to hear more about it.

I’m only scanning 1/2 the roof section, about 2’x4’ i’m Hoping the hand held Sense scanner will work
