I have modelled a planetary gear set where the sun gear and the planetary gears mesh perfectly, however the internal gear (ring gear) doesn't mesh with the planetary gears in terms of alignment.




All the data such as the module are all the same. What am I doing wrong or missing out?


Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Anna,

if I counted correctly your numbers of teeth are: z1=14, z2=20 and z3=54.

These numbers don't fulfil the rule of assembly for planetary gearsets.

It sais that the sum of the teeth of the sun and ringgear has to be a factor of the number of planets or (z1+z3)/p = integer.

Thus you could add one tooth to the ringgear ;-)

p is the number of planets and the quotient has to be an integer.
