Grey Cast iron is ideal for machine bases. mostly because of having ability to absorb vibration.

What if the steel is annealed? What if you fill with an aggregate mixture of random shape and density (pea gravel) and compress to 400 PSI similar to the random molecular structure of cast iron?

Olympia Engineering was doing this.

Maybe that is the right direction, I thought an internal pressure was a good thing. Just sealing it and filling with oil and some type of media but could pressurize oil if it helped mitigate inherent harmonics.

More like the Sandvik technology would be hollow steel balls the same density as the oil. So much for keeping simple and inexpensive.
