Electric Motorcycles and Electric Bicycles

Created by Steven Minichiello on 30 October, 2020

When the first Tron movie came out in the 80's, one of the biggest video game arcade games was the laser walled motorcycles. This motorcycle was nothing more than a simple prop with no realistic functionality.

In the more recent remake Tron Legacy there was a realized electric motorcycle that was created with very highly detailed prop that could actually work ! It was this model that gave the idea to create a working functional motorcycle in the style of the Tron Legacy movie.

The idea became a reality in 2012 with this 4-cycle replica called the Xenon : https://collider.com/tron-legacy-light-cycle-replica/

More recently introduced in 2019, the Parker Brothers (not related to the games) came up with an electric version called Neutron : https://www.parkerbrothersconcepts.com/neutron/

The movie motorcycle actually sold for this back in 2015 :

At $55K to $75K its probably one of the most expensive electric motorcycles in the world, but similar to the Finland Verge E2 electric motorcycle this one is also uses rim based electric motors.

The rim electric motor called the Vacio is also available separately in case you want to create your own rim motor designs : https://www.parkerbrothersconcepts.com/parts/vacio-wheel-kit/

So this is where fantasy meets reality and given that the movie is only 10 years ago, we are definitely at warp speed in technology evolution and realization.
