Hey guys, I have been watching some videos about the electric bicycle, mostly the DIY one. I have seen this guy name Tom Stanton on youtube and I think he did a pretty good job on the bicycle. It's pretty fast and he is using the side-mounted one (BLDC Motor to pulley via v-belt). In my opinion, that drive train is superior compare to the normal hub BLDC (Gearless) because of the torque options you can gain from the pinion and pulley gear ratio. But I am not sure why the hub motor is so popular, is it because the hub motor can hide in plain sight because it is covered with the cassette and disc brake??
