After our chat and the posts on the DS1054Z group message and after researching this for the past week there is no way I would go with the Rigol DMM. Rigol seem to have fell way behind especially with DMM's and that is why I just bought a Siglent SDM3055. It has large colour LCD display with pc software. I know you like your Rigol but there is no point in flogging a dead horse. I think you should sell it and and go with a Siglent.

No I am not talking about you Lynne however you were the one who started this conversation topic in the DS1054z group message. I have just written to Rigol, hope they give a response on the subject. I will let you know when they reply. Let me know how you get on with the SDM3055.

Your original message sparked a very heated debate with colleagues offline Lynne regarding Rigol test equipment so I am in hope Rigol emails back quite soon.

For the moment it appears you were correct about Rigol. I got a reply from Rigol-UK.co.uk and the Telonic.co.uk in the UK regarding Ultraview software. There reply was borderline ridiculous stating to be able to offer a competitive price certain software such as Ultraview is chargeable. So in other words for Rigol to make their multi meters competitive with other multi meters in the market they must use ransomware to force more money from you if you want to link your multi meter to a computer. This is outright ridiculous.

I have always purchased Rigol hardware but I have to say I am really shocked at this one. If this is the way they want to operate I will not buy from Rigol again and more importantly will not support them in future.

I personally don't have any experience with Rigol equipment but I have recently purchased a Siglent 3 channel power supply and 4 channel oscilloscope and am very happy with the performance so far. The hardware is reasonably priced and both came with free software to download for remote operation and additional functionality.

I think you made the right choice there. I am going off Rigol equipment now rather quickly.

FYI, for bench work and for 6.5-digit and data logging precision I have an Agilent 34401A, for handheld 5-digit precision and data logging I have a Fluke 189 , for general handheld work (4-digit precision) I have an Agilent U1233A (similar but better than a Fluke 115), but for general quick checks (like batteries) I have a Wavetek 16XL.
