Why has old electronics test equipment gone up in price so much in the past few years, I have seen electronics test equipment from the 80's going up in to the high thousands in some cases. One of the factors concerning price seems to be where you are situated in the world. I have a real hard time justifying such a high price for old electronics test equipment. I must admit I do like old test equipment however old equipment can turn in to a real nightmare quite easily, for instance If components fail many of which will be obsolete or incredibly hard if not impossible to find. If programmable IC's fail firmware will be virtually impossible to get turning the unit in to a brick. For me the risks are just too high to justify the price tag. I would be interested to know your thoughts or opinions on this.
