To be able to affectively design gear drive trains in your projects and have the correct parts made requires the knowledge that can be gained by having a library of reference books to work through. From my bookshelves I pulled out 3 books that contain the information needed to design for gears. The book with the yellow cover, Applied Mechanical Design has an excellent basic gear design section which lays out the gear design process as a series of easily followed steps. The Workshop Technology Series written by W. A. J. Chapman first published in 1943 is another good choice to gain an understanding of making gears. In my library I have part 1, part 2, and part 3, the version from the 1970's that I purchased when I started out on an engineering - manufacturing career. Gears, as with other engineering building blocks requires an investment of time and effort to understand

You can use "Dudley's Handbook of practical gear design and manufacture".

If you are using Mastercam, there are "user apps" and one is "Gear.dll" which allows you to fill in a list of parameters and dimensions, then the gear profile will be placed planar on the screen as defined. Very simple, especially if you have any info on the gear especially the tooth geometry, and initially you are setup with a standard profile to work off of.

Gears can be tricky to make especially if you are assembling a gear train (several gears working together). Before you can get started you need to figure out what types of gears are being used- there’s a number of different types. Most common is the spur gear, but there is also bevel gears, worm gears, face gears and the list goes on.

Thank all for comments. i have seen recommended book and websites.. but i dont find how to make gears. i know calculate number of teeth but cant draw gears. who can help me??
