Many badges' requirements seem to be easy to predict just by reading the badge's title. But after this, I think that ALL my predictions are wrong.
This is the example mentioned in the previous link:
"The Active uploader badge is an automatic badge detected by our system. You can obtain the badge depending on how many CAD parts you have in a file not based on how many models your have uploaded that month."
So I want one of the staff members to tell us which badges are awarded automatically, and what their requirements are.
I had an email a while back as I was an active up loader do I want to start of be part of a group in Beta groups. Even started the electronics group and go on the platform every day and upload quite often but never have heard of anything about badges.
Good luck with that though Yahya
I think the Badge thing is all messed up.
I found a person "Calab Angelo"
who has uploaded 4 models in total

And has the badge "ACTIVE UP-LOADER"
Not that I wish to take away from this member, however lets look at this (my stats);

No BADGE "ACTIVE UP-LOADER"
What does "ACTIVE UP-LOADER" really mean???
After looking into how many files and folders this member has still does not substantiate how he obtained the "ACTIVE UP-LOADER" badge looking into the number of files and parts I have uploaded.
Summary, the badge "ACTIVE UP-LOADER" algorithm is broken / not working in my opinion.
Thank you for your time.
Calm down, @mike.geesser-1 ...
The "Active Uploader" badge currently counts the no. of files uploaded, not the no. of models...
He has - probably - been awarded that badge for this model; as you can see it contains 74 files.
Check this discussion. I uploaded 15 models that month of about 10 files each, but another user - that made his account in the same month he earned the badge - uploaded 3 models:
By the way, the staff have already been informed and are working on it.
I am calm, I was simply presenting a case based on what I have seen. When you posted this topic I took the opportunity to express what I had seen before. Then I saw the member above with only 4 models.
If you think I was not calm, I'm sorry, I just was presenting data is all.
But I will say it again, active up-loader is needing to be fixed, or the title needs to be adjusted to more closely fit what it is doing, Example, Large part count model. Or something to that nature.
Regards
Mike G
I guess I should upload a mechanical disaster that uses 1000 different fasteners to hold two plates together. Separate files for each screw, nail, pop-rivet and clip...
The badge's title will remain and the requirements will change, not the opposite.
BTW, you don't have to design a mechanical disaster with 1000 fasteners, the user I mentioned before uploaded all his references, previous versions, etc.
He didn't even upload a single rendering !
This isn't right, but if you just want the badge, then do it...
Just found another weird badge giveaway, but this time to one of GC stass members, @matt.firmani-2 …
He has been awarded the "PowerGrabber" badge, which description says:
"Your models are a shining example of quality engineering and 3D modeling knowledge. You've gained the admiration and respect of your GrabCAD peers. This badge is for our top users who participate in and interact regularly with the GrabCAD community."
As you can see, the description clearly says models.
Note that Matt has uploaded only one model, not mentioning that it's against the guidelines (Just a GIF).
Any explanation?
Hi Yahya,
He is a staff member probably testing the platform.
I think many members feel the frustration of the badges but as far as I was told they are working on a new badge system.
Testing process has already finished ages ago...
Even if they were still testing, the badge should be removed immediately after testing.
BTW, the new badge system has nothing to do with this issue, it is about changing the badges' requirements.
I am not sure testing has finished Yahya.
This is a personal message I got from Abe a couple of months back.
Thanks for reaching out about this. We are actually going to be redoing the badging system here in the upcoming months.
I agree that right now it is very difficult to get a badge, so we will be updating that so that you can start getting some more badges so that it doesn't feel extremely difficult to receive one.
Yeah, but "Even if they were still testing, the badge should be removed immediately after testing".
That decision appears to be not yours to make.
That isn't my decision, it's common sense's.
If you think GrabCad staff members have no common sense maybe you should inform them direct of your opinion rather than on a message board.
Now you've misunderstood me…
Matt having this badge can simply be a mistake, you're the one who said it's related to the new updates.
What I meant by common sense is what I thought, not the other way round.
Forgetting doesn't mean not having common sense…
Besides, my explanation of forgetting is actually based on a previous experience, check this post I made earlier this year.
Don't forget that all we're discussing is only your explanation, which can be wrong.
Simply pointing out maybe you should discuss this with Matt direct rather than on a public message board.
Now I've found a double-badge giveaway…
He has been awarded both the "Active Uploader" & "Top Animator" badges, although he hasn't uploaded any models!
Any explanation?
I think this man could have deleted his model after awarding those badges.
Way too improbable…
To have the "Top Animator" badge, he'll need - at least - 10 models.
Will someone delete 10 models?
I thought that his models could've been reported then deleted, but 10 models is a big no. And remember, 10 at least.
Also I noticed after a while. Look at his grabcad score mere a two digit (10). It is also not possible what I have said earlier. What could have happened ?.
Looks like guns are back on the main library page. I've seen a few along with some rocket launchers, tanks, and other "dangerous stuff".
I could see someone getting the two badges, then deleting the models, but it seems odd to only have ten points, and 0 downloads. To upload 10 or more models and get no likes or downloads seems odd. Even the worst model(s) in the library seem to get downloaded a few times.
OK.
It looks like the download count is tied to the models in the library. If all the models are deleted, the download count must drop to 0 as well.
I'd assume the score works the same way. When models are deleted, "points" from Likes on those models are also removed.
I also found one new badge i.e Insider can anyone tell about this badge just check on that profile
https://grabcad.com/dipesh.sahoo-1
There are some discussions on the Insider (and other badges) at this link:
https://grabcad.com/groups/grabcad-community-user-group/discussions/undocumented-badge-sightings
Badges are a bit weird though. Some seem to be obsolete. Others are awarded, but then disappear. Some are supposed to not be visible.
The badge system is currently being reworked by the GrabCAD staff. No word on when updates will be done, or what the changes will be. Send them a message if you have any good ideas.
I proposed a "Spam Assassin" badge since I've spotted and reported a fair number of accounts posting unsolicited messages.
