If there is a Dev reading this or any one can we please disable the like limit i don't see why there is one and if not why and why is there a limit in the first place.
Do you mean, there's a limit how many models you can like in a day?
I don't know how much models you liked but I've never reached this limit so far...
Hello Everyone,
The limit on likes to combat Spam likes on GrabCAD. We currently have no plans to turn this off at the moment.
Thanks

I propose getting rid of the "like" system.
It makes more sense to award points for Downloads.
If a model is good enough to download, most of the time it is good enough to like. In those cases where the download does not match the library image, or it is missing components, maybe those defects will motivate the downloader to press the report button and try to take back their "Like/Download" point.
The most liked models in the library struggle to get 1,000 likes despite "7,000,000,000+" members, and 10's of thousands of downloads.
The Like system offers little incentive to upload content. Some members find it demotivating to see thousands of Downloads and tens of Likes.
Using Likes to combat Spam seems an odd tactic. If members are Liking Spam, remove the accounts that post Spam, as well as the accounts Liking the content.
can't people just make more than 1 account ?
ya but liking on here is like a bookmark system there are to many models that you may like
I can see the use of liking as a way to find a model again, but it is not a great system.
Likes don't make for effective bookmarks. But such a mechanism could be requested as a site feature.
The biggest limitation is models disappearing. The best/safest solution is saving the file(s) locally, and perhaps devising a library/record system so you can find a needed model again with little effort should the quantity grow beyond hundreds of files.
Thumbs up for liking models on the site. Few members do. Thus my suggestion to scrap the Like system in favor for something different.
well then i have a idea can you add a bookmark system
Fred (I don't know your real name) , you are totally right. The like system seems to be a good idea but practically it doesn't properly work well. 4× times more downloads than likes is a "normal" factor. And at least people aren't downloading crap models they don't like.
Actually there is a system on GrabCAD which considers the downloads
==> It is called popular models which at least adds both, the number of likes and the downloads. Also there is a score system there. This system is good, but as you said it is some kind of demotivating for some people not to recieve some well-deserved likes.
Maybe it is just time to fresh-up the "like-and-score-system" here?
I like the idea of a bookmark system, but it does not take account of models leaving the site.
The only way to maintain access to a desired file is by downloading it. Models on GrabCAD can disappear at any time for a number of reasons. Once a model is removed from the site, a "bookmark" will either auto-disappear as well, or result in a page not found error.
If you can get a download to like ratio of 4X, you're doing something right. 10X - 50X seems closer to the normal ratio.
The mystery models in the library belong to Max Bracic. Each of his models have more likes than downloads.
I don't often study like:download ratios, but it's weird for one user to stand out for reversing the norm.
Thank you for all the feedback everyone. I will be discussing this thread with the team soon. So please if you have any more ideas to improve GrabCAD please reply to the thread.
i don't know if you let work that has been upload to be up dated but if you add a bookmark system let it notifi us that the model has been up dated
greater than 1:1 at the moment:
Give that model time, and it should approach your average of 1 like for every 8 downloads.
Yes, of course it will establish another ratio after some time. I was just enjoying the moment with that "impossible" ratio ;-)
i just forgot but if some one edits there model if you add a bookmark system make it to were we know the model was updated thank you
and this would be the bookmark tab on models
Really cool idea. I like this. i will bring this up to our next meeting and see what we can do about this.
Somebody could automate downloading some how and automatically start downloading models and create a bunch of fake likes this way.
The other problem is it's a CAD site and a lot of people just load images of what they make but no CAD models, which to me isn't helpful for CAD purposes and projects. Also lots of junk files, some don't have all the parts for assemblies and some have errors opening up, etc... To me this would be worthy of a thumbs down. I've seen one company upload like 50+ models of the same led light stand but slight variations of it and that just gets crazy in terms of downloads and what to look for.
I double on FLOYD'S ARMAMENTS's idea, but with a bit of a different intention.. When I am on Grabcad, I am often on a "search-binge", I look for many different things. Then I often end up hitting the like-limit. Because of that, I have to return to the website every day or save the links in my bookmarks.. I like the stuff, not only to show my appreciation, but to "save" the models, I am interested in downloading some day, or might use as inspiration some day. In the past, I used to just download a bunch. But this quickly, takes up a lot of storage..
If we could just have a collection / bookmark / or save option, that would be great. I don't intend to spam people, but I also don't like having to spread out my visits to the site, to avoid the like limit. I would rather have a moment every once in a while, in which I save a lot of stuff..
I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes stuff with this in mind.
If you would take a look at Sketchfab's site design: They have the option to create collections as well. So you can neatly order your own creations and those of others. But that's just my opinion..
