Since months people are opening groups just to show their own work. lots of people posting pictures without models all in different groups just to get likes. a lot of YouTube videos without models. etc etc.
I'm thinking about leaving and find another site like GrabCad in the old days
Yep, you're right. People are posting a lot of rubbish and noone cares.
I have been promoting my models in some groups and have been warned not to do this since it's not allowed. But at least I think my models might have some educational purpose for some of the users here.
It's like in real life - good people get admonished and many others just do what they want...
You are not wrong about this. However, there are people who do not share on this site and receive what is shared here. Since these people have not shared for a certain period of time, their membership should be deleted. Members who are used to receiving from this site, but not used to giving, should show some respect.
Also GRABCAD must delete that kind dirty works like that
https://grabcad.com/library/shit-12
True, there are incomplete models as well. Not only images, some uploaders upload the assembly file but they don't upload their individual part file or subassembly files. That makes the assembly file incomplete and of no use. Instead, they tell others to inbox them for a complete assembly file and in return charge money for it. I want to ask that why upload your model in the first place. This is a free source site. Though, if required and if someone asks for help in their project or design, then they can approach them in their DM and discuss the service.
Or upload your models where you can earn for your models. This thing is disgusting.
I stopped coming to GrabCAD due to this very reason. Spam or promotion. But they bring traffic. I think GC will close their eyes on such members. I think I will reduce my visits even more in the future. :(
Mehmet, your points of view above have merit, it would solve most of the problems raised here on this forum.
For the most part GrabCad is a shining star amongst similar websites. But the community is quickly becoming inundated with many that either do not understand the rules or flaunt them and do what they want anyway. The question is: where are the admins? Why aren’t they keeping up with the problem? Not too long back we got a new admin that made bold promises to get on board and be active. And now… more crickets. We are promised that if we report the problems they will take care of them. I make lots of reports and nothing ever happens. I’ve read where they suggest we may need to make a second report. Their system is broken if we ever need to make a second report!
There are two big problems with GrabCad. The least important problem is the people that are flaunting the rules. The number one problem seems to be that GrabCad lacks the resources and willpower to effectively manage the first problem.
GrabCad you have a gem here but you’re quickly losing control.
For a specific example look at the tutorials. They have become a useless appendage. Nothing more than a spam repository for YouTube clickbait. You have allowed this conflagration to persist for so long, most tutorial creators now think it’s the way it’s supposed to be done.
Will you allow these same problems to overtake the remaining usable parts of GrabCad?
Hello Everyone.
Like any website, there is usually will be spam and very useless posts on a website. GrabCAD houses over 9.3 Million users on the site and some are spam accounts slipping through the cracks. The Team cares about the site and we are constantly trying to create new solutions to fix these issues. The reason why we rely on you to report these such posts and tutorials, so we can learn what kind of posts we need to get rid of.
Our Support team is looking at over 2000+ reports every day, granted we can't get them all right away but we are working hard to make GrabCAD a site where everyone can start share their models and learn from one another. We have been combating Spam ever since I started here at GrabCAD. It's an ongoing battle and it's not something we can win overnight but please understand that we DO care and we haven't forgotten our values.
But I do want to thank the Users who have been messaging me spam models or spam posts as I can get them off the site before our support team can get through their queue. Also big thank you to Jackson, our Intern, who has been helping with the Community as well. But if you see something, say something to either myself or Jackson
Best,

Hi All,
I just want to second what Kesa said. On a daily basis I check for spam, but our filters are unable to catch everything. I implore you all if you do see something to message me and I will take care of it. I understand that the spam is frustrating and I am doing my best to combat it.
I want to thank you all for your dedication to the site and hope you will continue to work with us to make it the best it can be.
Thanks,
Jackson
GrabCAD Intern
I dont think we are talking about Spam we are talking about members not obeying the Rules. Like just posting pictures without models or creating a group just to self promote. or deleting a group thread just to post the thread again so that it goes to the top of the Groups. I Think its funny that has been happening for months now and not once have I seen action taken. I visit GrabCad at least 4 times a day s I think I would notice.
Hi CadCloud, I misunderstood, but again I am not able to check on every group. If you have issues with models or users again I ask that you send them to me and I will deal with them. Please understand that we are doing our best to moderate the site, but with the sheer number of users we simply cannot comb through it all. With you help in reporting I hope we will be able to improve the overall quality of users and models.
Here we go again from Kesa: 'GrabCAD houses over 9.3 Million users on the site'
Why do the people behind GrabCAD have this eternal preoccupation with how many users have once upon a time visited, created an account with a fake name and details, downloaded something, never to be seen again????
I can't help myself but have to copy-paste a comment I made around 4 years ago when GrabCAD 'celebrated' having 4 million users:
=============
I would like to promote some of the many wonderful members from Antigua And Barbuda, who are best known for their unusual names, having no profile pictures, giving no personal information, uploading no models, making no tutorials and giving no answers:
etc.
This list goes on, more than 1000 'members' from Antigua and Barbuda alone.
Remind me again what we are celebrating with this challenge? We now have a huge majority of passive leeches on GrabCAD? In what way is this enhancing the community? Do you think that users like sfsf sfdsf will help you learn Solidworks? It is madness!
=============
Practically ALL these fake accounts still exist and are still utterly inactive: No models uploaded, no comments, no likes, no activity. They are NOT users - they are gone and do not contribute in any way to the community. WHAT IS THE BLOODY POINT?
Some on GrabCad give, others only take, some give good help and advice, some only deliver a load of rubbish. As GrabCad is a social media platform, though supposedly to share and enhance engineering and technoloy, it is still just another platform, like Facebook Twitter, and the like. As with the internet and mainstream platforms, there is very minimal censorship, these places are not places patrolled by the " Thought Police ". I have a mind of my own so the way I look at these takers, time wasters, over active egos is to ignore them.
GrabCAD was a great site I'd visit daily. Now I stop by once a month to see if it has reversed course and is getting better.
I'm sure there is still some good content appearing but most of what I see are self promotion posts.
Here's a "Free SOLIDWORKS Course". Just follow the links to Udemy to buy it...: https://grabcad.com/tutorials/free-solidworks-basics-course-part1
Here's a "Venus Box design" cross posted into a dozen or more Groups: https://grabcad.com/groups/grabcad-india/discussions/venus-box-design--3
GrabCAD is a pass through site that directs people to YouTube. It's also annoying to find the same post with no content beyond a picture and a URL in so many groups.
Even worse are the cross posts into groups with no relation to that groups purpose: https://grabcad.com/groups/rendering/discussions/3d-model-print-issue
That's a 3D printing issue in the Rendering group. I deleted the same post from my Keyshot group. What's worse is that so few group moderators remove this junk. How many groups are on autopilot with nobody at the wheel?
Look at this Group. Why are so many unrelated posts allowed to remain in it? GrabCAD moderates this group and allows posts like this to remain: https://grabcad.com/groups/grabcad-community-user-group/questions/adjuatable-stand-for-rc-airplane
I commend CadCloud for trying but GrabCAD needs to moderate this Group.
There's no need to "learn what kind of posts to get rid of". What posts does GrabCAD allow on its site? If garbage is allowed to remain you'll get more of it.
Several years ago I have already posed a similar problem and ways to solve it. It's nice that Hegel's logic allows you to make true predictions of the future.
I think you can gather from the comments that it's going to take more than a reactionary approach to the problem. I don't think any of us doubt your dedication but it is quite obvious the boat is leaking water faster than you are able to find and plug the leaks.
Some simple suggestions:
I agree with all of you
A question to all
-If you were a Support menager of Grabcad what woluld you do and how you solve all these problem
Your idea will lead Grabcad security
Thank you
Bob,
These suggestions are fantastic. We will be looking into this kind of feedback. This will help shape the security of GrabCAD so we can stop these kind of problems.
Please feel free to come up with more ideas, if you have them.
Best

I agree with point 5. The likes system doesn't work.
The first four spammers can easily be bypassed by creating 3-4 fake accounts.
It has long been clear to everyone that administrators cannot cope with so many posts, models, etc., and the time has come to delegate some of their responsibilities to users.
Suggestion 1
Spam members' IPs should always work just like virus removal programs and the detected ones should be deleted automatically.
This is Google translation!
In each category, there are specialists (who visit the site quite often) and are respected by the audience of this category. Let's call them conditionally category leaders. They can be given rights (a special admin account) that has a spam button or other evaluative action. Any material posted in their category is first seen only by them marked "New" or "Grade". When the material passes 3 ratings from the "Category Leaders", it becomes visible to everyone else. If the user who is uploading the material does not agree with the appraisal, he can appeal this with the site administration. This will reduce the load on the site administration tenfold and will be reduced to the analysis of only controversial issues. You will also receive a time lag that will discourage all spammers from posting anything, being sure that time will pass and their material will not be published.
How to choose "Category Leaders"? I would organize voting among users in 2 stages.
1) To identify candidates for leadership. You can simply accept applications from users who want to get into the "leaders"
2) Direct voting. After that, the administration itself will decide with whom it is comfortable to work.
Suggestion 2
Any educational work uploaded for a member or project or blog or financial resource that you see Grabcad and describe as spam
https://grabcad.com/jackson.eckenrode-1
we must report
You will appreciate that the instant control of the site, which has more than 9 million members, is very difficult and 10 of them may appear while you are busy with one.
My aim is not to protect the Grabcad employee. But we have to help them make this community a cleaner society.
Suggestion 3
Works that do not contain rendering should definitely be prevented from being uploaded with the help of a filter.
Recommendation 4
If the work has advertising features such as a political logo or company logo, it should be prevented from being published with the help of a filter.
Recommendation 4
Sex-related blogs, messages and similar publications should also be prevented with the help of a filter. And the IPs of those who broadcast such broadcasts should be determined and they should be prevented from becoming a member of Grabcad again.
Recommendation 6
When a spammy work is seen, the member who uploaded it should be warned in the comment section. But if that member doesn't delete this work then it should be reported.
This should be done to keep the site clean and to help the staff working on this issue.
Somehow I think, we are working with a lost cause. I know a wide range of persons turn up here from experienced professionals to gifted amateurs, but I fear these are becoming a minority. We have been taken over by the takers dreamers and egotist rather different than the members that I found here back in 2012 when I joined up. Integrity and professional pride and standards seem to more common attributes among the members that have been here for a while than many of the newer members. Many of the " questions " that appear are either spam or the efforts of students and others to get " homework " done with no effort, or someone else to do the work they are being paid to do. https://grabcad.com/questions/torsional-spring-for-393-newtons-load
How to fix this, I do not know, the only real change can be made by us. All the problems in the world today would go away if greed, self interest, big egos, suddenly disappeared, and if these types were not here on GrabCad many of these things would go away. With the size of the GrabCad membership, many not here with the right attitude making improvements will require much time and effort to the Staff. How much time available to them ?, we do not know.
This same conversation has been going on over many years with no resolving measures put in place. Usually this has been answered with the deflective reply of “These are great ideas please send in further suggestions” followed by silence & inaction or the other one is “we are concentrating on other matters at this time but will get back to it later” I, myself have voiced opinions in the past quite regularly but have been worn down and fed up of being frustrated by the inaction from management & abuse from unethical members. Over the years there have been many suggestions brought forth by members of which they are still archived on the site making it easy for GRABCAD to compile such into a register for initiation review if they are so motivated to do so.
It humours me in a dark way how some of the same people in this conversation complaining about members not uploading CAD files usually will give the reply that if a CAD file has value, then don’t upload it if you don’t want it to be abused when a member complains of such (logically who would then upload their labour which always has some form of value unless it has been plagiarised or of poor quality). After one such dialogue (https://grabcad.com/questions/if-you-upload-renderings-without-3d-files-why-are-you-here) I decided to become less involved in these conversations and to drift away from contributing and exist on my past laurels. I have taken a drastic measure by withdrawing my CAD models as a form of protection from abuse as an interim measure in hopes that the site would get a grip on these ongoing underlying issues so I could repost. I still get requests for my models but not surprising that nearly all of them are from members whom have never contributed to the site when you check their membership page.
I believe a member must earn their right to the use of the site. If something is free from obligation then it will be abused and no proper appreciation will be shown to those submitting models. This can be noted in the number of “LIKES” to downloads shown (not that this is a tangible commodity).
I am unaware if GRABCAD management incorporate KPI’s attached to membership numbers but quality should be overriding to quantity of members. Further to this if performance measures are used it should be on quantity/quality of models & their usefulness before the quantity of members.
Contributing members want to feel that their labours are secure & being protected by GRABCAD management. In reviewing the legal rules of the site, it appears that the purpose is to protect the GRABCAD / Stratasys organisations from legal liability but offers no protection to those that upload their models. If the site incorporates increased security measures & verification of its participants particulars, it would make it easier to regulate the culpable from repeat offending & involvement. If the site is deemed to be protecting the contributors, then more CAD model uploading will occur with greater quality & quantity. Members with proper ethics & morals want to share & interact with likeminded individuals and not be harassed or abused by those with ulterior motives. Dealing with the scammers and likes distract from the enjoyment of the site and deter ongoing participation. I find it ironic that members can hide in anonymity and download anyone’s model to abuse it for plagiarism or piracy and be protected by the site’s privacy rules and yet the model originators have no right to know whom has uploaded their model. Even OEM Parametric parts catalogues require you to register for the service.
Personally, I would like the ability to be able to approve whom is able to download my models as a form of protection and self governance of my own intellectual property. This could take the form of full model access to certain members and varying degrees to a 1 off of particular models to other members. Further to this would be having a rating system for members thereby giving some sense of assurance for inter dealings with such. Presently all I have is to go to the members home page for perfunctory review
If GRABCAD vetted out the transgressing members and ensured that its participants were of genuine parametric modellers with some modicum of ethics, then maybe they would not be swamped under with dealing with the likes of the nefarious with thousands of incidents a day and could concentrate on the more enjoyable aspects of the job. They may take an initial hit in the numbers of members but would start building back with a sense of faith & trust in the organisation by all involved. A stronger stance would send a message to those with ulterior purposes. Unfortunately, this is a social media site of sorts and as such is prone to the abuse but this does not negate the responsibility of GRABCAD to retain controls over such.
