14 . Do not use copyrighted company / product logos in your model designs unless you are the rights-holder, or have been given permission by the rights-holder. Models with logos used without permission are subject to removal by GrabCAD Support. 

I dont know if there is a "Great List" but these are general copyright rules.

Unless it’s a recent restriction on models uploaded, “BMW” won’t get a model removed. Just do a search for “BMW” to verify this. I expect it may be some combination of keywords that causes the restriction.

As for unwritten rules, I expect if they published all the restricted keywords then those that publish models that have those keywords would just avoid them or come up with unique misspellings to get around it. Thereby bypassing the purpose of the restriction. Which is not the words themselves but the models they describe.

The recent BMW car body model that was blocked is a prime example. He changed the description, left off a few specific keywords and voila, problem solved. It’s still a BMW car body model but it’s published because he knows what keywords to leave out.

Yeah the "key" words in this case was BMW.

Still, “BMW” does not get a model removed. Maybe it’s a restriction that was added for uploaded models within the last 12 months. I suspect it’s a bit more complex than just having “BMW” in the description and I doubt GC will give us the algorithm.

CadCloud makes a good reference with rule #14. It seems to be a rule that is applied in limited circumstances.

BMW logos are suspiciously absent.

A Library search for "logo" returns thousands of models. I have to assume they are not uploaded by the copyright holders in most cases.

If some models are removed or hidden from the library it's on GrabCAD to explain the rule(s) to everyone uploading models. If there is a rule against company products / product logos the rule needs to be enforced or removed. We should not need to experiment to figure out how to get a model into the Library.

Look at the front page of the library. It's filled with name branded models. Jaguar, Mercedes, Cummings, Ferrari, Land Rover, Lamborghini, Boeing... I don't see how GC will maintain a library without proper names. Are we supposed to name things "Not a Ferrari"? Maybe we call every car a "four wheeled passenger vehicle"?

The fact that somebody on the staff is more interested in deleting models from the library than explaining how this site works, or is meant to work is disappointing.

I've got 113 models uploaded. About 1/10 of those are named with or based on copyrights I don't own. Find em' and delete em'. Show us how serious GrabCAD is about following their copyright rule.

But what's the point of a library with content we can't search for by name? If someone wants a <insert brand name here> model that's what is searched for.

If we're not supposed to use specific keywords we should be told the rules.

Maybe the goal is to kill the site? It helps explain why promises of "changes are coming" have been hollow for the past years.

I totally agree with you all on these points. While I respect the manufacturers protecting their brands and GC making a diligent effort to comply, it seems like like the pendulum might be swinging far from what’s reasonable.

It's all coming down to tyranny and censorship world wide.

It is the new normal now, bend someone's nose out of shape in the slightest way and poof you never will see your model again.

I can see if there is a trade mark, or logo which can be considered taboo to use if you don't hold the rights, but at some point it could be considered free advertising for company X.

Happy to see someone did not delete four logos. Still hopeful we'll get an explanation of the types and names of models that get removed or hidden.

I think I saw a report that BMW had asked for all so called "BMW MODELS" be removed as people where trying to have "Certain Models reproduced IE Wheel Rims" and there where hundreds on the site. Again not even sure if it was after GrabCad got sold. But Iám old and who knows Alzheimer's ?
