Hey Everyone,
You probably noticed that the Tutorials Master badge has a brand new look. We changed it up for to match the new look of our badges. Also this badge is now a leveled badge meaning based on how many tutorials that you have created in the community the tier of the badge will go up. This is another step in our Badges overhaul that we are working on and we hope to add more amazing badges soon.
If you have any questions or feedback on this badge don't be afraid to let us know in the comments.
Kesa
When will be the badges assigned to engineers. Also on the all badges list, it shows that "awarded to 48 engineers" but on inside it is assigned to only one. But I love the look and style.
Flat design long shadow!? Kesa, are you serious?
It is at least not fashionable for a long time.
I honestly don’t understand where you are going and where you want to come with this design. Do you want to make all badges different in style? Why do the last 2 have a flat design long shadow, but the upload master does not?
The Tutorial Master Badge looks like it was made up of a Microsoft Word 1998 clip art.
Might take a while for the automatic system to catch up and award everyone the appropriate badge level.
Thanks for the update.
Is it possible to add the requirement(s) for each level as a description when the badge levels are clicked on? Right now the pages are just blank: https://grabcad.com/badges/tutorial-master/levels/1
For comparison, check out Upload Master level 1 which describes the need to upload a model to activate the badge: https://grabcad.com/badges/upload-master/levels/1
Also, it is difficult to leave the individual badge level pages for Tutorial Master. Can a link be added to "see all badges" like the level 1 Upload Master badge, and others have?
The badge appears to be awarded when a member posts a new tutorial. I posted one as a test, and it triggered the level 2 badge. I assume that requires 5 tutorials, and level 3 requires 20 tutorials...? Actually, I just looked at the badges closer and saw the little numbers on them:
Level 1 - 1 Tutorial
Level 2 - 5 Tutorials
Level 3 - 10 Tutorials
Level 4 - 25 Tutorials
Level 5 - 50 Tutorials
My only complaint is the tutorial badge requirements went from rather vague, and difficult to meet quality requirements. To a badge where quantity is rewarded over quality. Will we see a flood of "this is how to draw a circle" tutorials? Only time will tell.
I know the desire is to automate the badge system to not require manually awarding badges, and that is great. But awarding badges for terrible content is an unfortunate side effect.
What do the little 4-pointed stars (?) on the books (in the badges) symbolize?
May be why don't you put it as a competition. This will probably give variety of logo design.
Great idea. Competition is always good.
Only, it seems to me, you need to do a contest for all badges at once. At the same time, I would not give a clear assignment to the competition for the graphic part. This will give a huge abundance of options. There will be plenty to choose from and compare.
But may be a template can be prepared and can be changed accordingly.
That's just the point that it is not necessary to limit freedom to templates. Some people think so unconventionally that not one pro would have done it because he already has a template in his head. Than good contests with a floating task among non-professionals. You can get a completely unpredictable result that will open up completely new horizons. But as practice shows, one will have to look for him in a very large pile of various garbage. :)
We are thinking about opening up a challenge for one of the community members to redesign a badge. I will let you all know details in the future.
Also for people who haven't been awarded a Badge, the system needs to be refreshed and you will get your appropriate badge level. You should see the change on Monday since the tech team is out for the weekend.
Thanks
Just made a test tutorial to activate the badge, but ended up with this weird orientation:
