Wow got into the office and seen all that. Be sure to report those if you see more of them and we will handle it on our end. Thanks guys.
Can we get a notification when someone/something we reported gets removed, @kesa-1 @tambet.masik-1 ?
We also need a notification when our report is refused, just to know why...
The interesting part about the weekend spam posts were the number of views they had. Most had dozens of views. One about a tennis match had over a thousand views.
This site is usually slow on weekends, but seeing so many views on posts for some TV shows is evidence that people are here, but not doing anything.
It would be an interesting system if a post could be temporarily, and automatically removed if it (or the poster) receives several reports. GrabCAD staff could then review the reported/removed post(s) and delete or restore them as desired.
Spam postings here have gotten rare, but having a means to remove them quickly would be great.
This user has made tons of spam tutorials, but for some reason none have been reported!
Neglecting the whole bunch of spam "AutoCAD's secret exposed" series, he has another series of tutorials called "Magical world of 3D printing".
These so-called tutorials show a bunch of his 3D printed models, nothing more...
I've reported them all before, but haven''t - yet - seen any action.
I've also been reporting a bunch of models, comments, replies, etc. but still haven't seen any action, What's going on with the reports team?
Note: How did such spammer have the Tutorials Master & Community Leader badges?
This user, too.
99 percent - probably 100 - of his models are just renderings, renderings and sexually explicit, or others' models and he just uploads a STEP file (not sure whether it's Ok or not).
I've reported as many as I can, please do sth.
I've just checked his 6 models…
3 or 4 are as you said, the rest are Ok.
And before you ask. Yes, I've already reported them.
Another user,
This time, he's a PowerGrabber…
Most of his models are just renderings, with links to his website for downloading...
Thank you all for the reports. I will be messaging the user about this renderings.
I see that the things I've previously mentioned in this discussion haven't been removed…
Why aren't the reports being reviewed?
These 3 tutorials are spam, have been reported a couple of times each, but still nothing...
Hey Yahya,
Thanks for bringing these to our attention! One of these tutorial creators was a spammer, and has been removed. The other was trying to sell models, so they've been removed too.
However, I never actually received any reports from you about these, or any of the previous things you've recently mentioned. I most assuredly would have acted on these reports if I received them. Might I ask how you are trying to report these to us?
Hey! So I looked into this, and the guy is definitely using GrabCAD to market for his business. He's been blocked until we can discuss this further, but that won't hide his models, so please bear with me. I'd like to give him a chance to make things right.
Just wanted to let you know that this was taken care of a little while back.
In general, I want to thank everyone for working together to keep the GrabCAD Community free from trolls, spammers and general abuse of our Guidelines.
We have the option on any page with content to report that content, and I'm the one who receives those reports. We are indeed out on weekends, but I will be available to answer promptly during working hours. If you want to bring something to my attention, please use the reporting tool to contact me.
You are welcome to discuss members and content in violation of our guidelines here, but I don't check this nearly as frequently as I do the reporting portal, so please keep that in mind.
Have an awesome day everyone!
I simply press "Report"...
There is a lot of spam lately that is accumulating.
I made a suggestion a while back that new members should not be allowed to make new posts for a period of time. It would go a long way in solving this problem. All spam is coming from brand new members.
Secondary to that, if an admin spent just maybe 5 minutes a day reading new posts and proactively deleting the spam and the spammers it would probably require less time than it does now dealing with the problem.
Its like I said CrabCad is not interested in the site what so ever. they will not make any trusted member to have the availability to delete the most obvious Spam. I have reported a load of spam even directly to the staff but nothing happens.
Yes. I exclusively report spam in the Questions sections and still nothing happens even after weeks, sometimes. I am sure couple of other users like you, Yahya, Carlos, Bob etc also report such posts regularly.
Even more annoying is the unwanted/unasked for tutorials and YouTube spammers. I have no interest in this place anymore. :/
I guess we can split the spam contents and behaviour into two types:
For the first type that involves real, active members, please report them to the support as you do so far. Our support department is going over them usually every few days and taking an action on each one of them.
For the 2nd type (automated spams/bots), you can also message directly to me. I'm not working as support engineer but I'm one of the developers working on automated spam prevention.
PS: This is unfortunately a problem existing in all public communities and at GrabCAD we're doing our best to reduce these numbers and block them. We're using multiple systems to detect and block these, including content filters, akismet and user behaviors. Our automated systems block or hides over 50,000 spam contents a month: so the ones you see are the ones which are not caught by these automated systems.
this user has already been reported many times but he's still spamming
https://grabcad.com/ahmed.metwalli-1
Thank you for letting us know. I've reported that user to our customer support team.
Thank you. They took action by deleting all his posts.
He is right back at it this morning.
Slow learner.
He should be banned. His models are worthless and he is Just a YouTube Spammer !
At least maybe something like a 30 days ban would help. And if the spam posts will come back after the 30 days ban, than the account will be deleted.
Maybe this is somehow a good idea? Everybody deserves a second chance, but there is only one second chance in life :)
If you don't receive the email within an hour (and you've checked your Spam folder), email us as confirmation@grabcad.com.
