Is anyone uploading models and their thumbnail images aren't showing up?
Mine isn't and usually I notice this sometimes happens for a few minutes / maybe hours when the model is first uploaded, but now it's been almost over a day.
Well I deleted the model and reuploaded it and now I'm getting this error:
You found a part in our assembly that has not been engineered yet.
Hello, Hasanain. Are you complaining about "Paint Can Lid Opener" model you have?
Can you please tell me which version of the SolidWorks you've used for designing it? It will help us to debug. Thanks!
Hi Robert,
Yes that is the correct model.
I use Solidworks 2018, which I've been using for a while now for a lot of the models I upload.
I deleted the first model thinking it was an upload error.
I re-uploaded it and the link just gave it a -1 along with the rest of the url that it had before when I uploaded it the first time.
I've never had this issue before with the other files I've uploaded.
The only different thing I can think of is I used an iPhone to take pictures of the real life part to show how it's used and it automatically converted the images on the phone to a .heic (Apples new high efficiency image format) and then I reconverted those images back to .jpeg via the app below:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/heic-to-jpeg-free/9ntvcmpjm5v3?activetab=pivot:overviewtab
I deleted those pictures thinking they may have caused the error, but the picture I rendered in Solidworks doesn't show up at all. I save this as a .jpg all the time. I just switched the default thumb nail image to the step file I believe and it seems to show up.
The only other difference I can see is the pictures I took via the phone have a .jpeg vs .jpg extension.
I have encountered the same scenario whereby the .jpg image file has been uploaded but the thumbnail has not been shown on model page (twirling daffodil shown next to images indicating attempts to update). Further to this I have been receiving likes but they are not accredited to any of my model pages.
Hello ROBERT JUHANSON; are there limits to quantity of renders that a person can post? As of late, I have been posting renders of my Solidworks models only to protect my IP. Does this have causal affects as per issues noted? Regards: M.Bruton
Hei, Guys. In regards to the uploading issue: we're experiencing a very long conversion queues at the moment, expanding our infrastructure capabilities to handle all of the requests now.
This is the reason conversion of your uploaded models is taking very long and thumbnails are not appearing.
Sorry for inconvenience and thanks for your patience!
Hei, Mark. Do you mean you use only images with no geometry files attached when uploading the Model?
Yes, Presently only uploading graphic images of my models at this time to display my works as I have found my other models over the past years appearing on other websites without permission & due recognition. I realize that plagiarism & piracy have been major issues on the site over the years and thus holding off until I have more confidence that some protections are being done. It would be great share the models but only with trusted GRABCAD members.
Regards : Mark Bruton
Mark, there are no limits to quantity of uploaded files but I do encourage you to upload complete CAD model including geometry file(s) because it is one of the main principles and purposes of the GrabCAD.
Model pages without a CAD file included are temporarily hidden from searches. All Placeholder Models on GrabCAD will be deleted. Please read more from GrabCAD Guidelines page:

Thanks. The thumb nail image shows up now.
