I'm a UK based CAD design engineer with 8+ years experience. Primarily with solidworks but I'm competent in Inventor and Autocad as well. I have extensive mechanical experience in motorsport, machine safety and machine automation. I also have strong hands on experience in sheet metal, and plastic fabrication, CNC routing, manual milling and turning and mechanical assembly so am cabable in regards to design for manufacture.
I have recently made the plunge to go freelance and while I have picked up some work the marketing side of working for myself is very new to me.
My questions to anyone successfully working as a freelance designer are these:
What have been your best marketing strategies?
What websites/recruitment agencies have/haven't worked for you?
I've got no comparison as a freelancer in a pre-covid world, how has the current global situation affected the amount of work that is actually out there?
Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
