A Mechanical Design Engineer is required to join a small project team engaged with delivery of a turn-key camera project for a UK nuclear facility involving new cameras, human-machine interface and electronics enclosure designs.


The role includes:

 

  • Development of small mechanical mechanisms including the generation of production documents and design process management;
  • Electro-Mechanical packaging;
  • Design and draughting of Electronics enclosures
  • Draughting of electrical cable interconnects and wiring internal and external to large electronics enclosures.
  • Production of documents in support of projects as required;
  • Travel within the UK for meetings / site surveys as required
  • Preparation of requirement and design specifications;
  • Design / development of new products which may be either customer or company led;
  • Production support of existing products;
  • Ability to design 1-off creative designs with high degree of 1st pass production;
  • Technical support to Sales / Projects for customer orders / sales enquiries;
  • Compiling pricing information;

 

Qualifications and experience

 

The ideal candidate will be qualified to a degree level (BEng/Bsc); however, a minimum of HND/HNC with a 3 to 5 years’ minimum experience of mechanical design is acceptable.  The candidate will be AutoCAD trained and ideally will also have knowledge of the following:

 

  • Electro-mechanical packaging
  • Small mechanical packaging
  • Camera deployment mechanisms
  • Cooling Systems
  • Solid Works 3D design software
  • Microsoft Office
  • Radiation Shielding
  • Reliability


This position is being offered on a 6 month Fixed Term Contract basis with a salary of between £35,000 to £45,000 per year (pro-rata)
