I was working on a project recently and wanted to generate a rendering that looked more like a concept drawing, than a realistic rendering.

I found the image below online as a reference for what I am looking to try and recreate. Is Photoshop or Illustrator normally used for these types of colored sketches?:

I think the goal is termed "non-photo realistic rendering". I find people sometimes focus on the appearance too much when a photo realistic rendering is presented. Instead I want them to focus more on the shape, and in this case the color scheme.
I know Keyshot does Toon Shading, but toon shading is a little too sparse. I would like to make the shadows in the image more like the Shaded Toon shadows though.
Let me know if you've done similar things, or give it a try and post some results here.

I think it would take a lot of time (2-3) hours to really develop the drawing, but these steps work.
I like those sketch lines. I'm not sure I can incorporate them in my curved object, but for squarish stuff they look great.
I saw that a non-photorealistic rendering option was/is available for Rhino. It is called Penguin. It does not look like it has been updated in a while, but it gives some interesting results.
I'm going to keep adjusting Keyshot and trying different materials and layers, then stacking said layers in Photoshop. I'll post back some results if I get something attractive, that doesn't take too long to produce.
