Ready to show off your Keyshot rendering skills? Let's have a contest of rendering the same model and see what everyone comes up with.
Download the model here in Step format
What's a contest without rules?
Do we need a prize? Let me know; maybe we'll get a gift card. Prizes will need judges to decide the winner.
Any questions? Post them here and I'll update this post if I've forgotten anything critical.
I have some Keyshot tutorials to get you started:
This contest is to render this aircraft hinge.
It looks like you know how to create a rendering. If you are using Keyshot please consider rendering the above hinge, and submitting an entry.
That's the spirit!
Great idea with rusty parts being cleaned up.
The oil can looks great.
Good job slicing the Step file into multiple parts.
The texture on the folded towels looks too large, but good work. Thanks for participating.
Hi Fred. You are correct. I have to find out why the weave pattern is different size when I use the GPU Strange. Correct size with out the GPU option??????
That looks great.
Deadline for entries is April 30th, 2020, midnight. Plenty of time left for anyone that wants to give it a try.
Finally got around to spending some time on this. I ended up changing some things slightly in CAD, such as adding fillets to everything, updated the cage of the needle bearing, added in a real bolt, and removed the notch in the U-bracket.
Thank you. :)
I've always wanted to start playing around with worn edges and scratches like in this video: https://blog.keyshot.com/how-to-create-worn-painted-metal-in-keyshot and planned to do that for this project, but I ended up not having enough free time to play around.
Yep, that is cool. My approach to textures and colors usually starts off with images that can be modified in Photoshop and them brought into Key Shot as properties or textures or labels and then further modified in Key Shot.
Here is a good reference for great textures that is free: https://www.toolfarm.com/news/freebie_3d_mayangs_free_texture_library/
Very good. I was planning to do a painted version too, but have not had a chance. I like it.
The 30th has passed, time to declare a winner. I vote for a tie between Fedor Volkov and Derek Heming.
For Fedor's I love the original orientation of the model.
For Derek's he really captured the look of a painted part in that closeup shot with the nut and bolt.
Thanks for participating!
Thanks! I expect there should be more people in the future contests. Anyway, it's a great format to practice rendering skills.
