You’re approaching this completely backwards. The design must be relative to the method chosen to manufacture it. Pick a manufacturing method. Then pick a method for breaking the part down into reasonable sections. Then design the part and associated flat pattern.

Both of the flat patterns submitted thus far could be correct. But it’s possible neither may be applicable to your manufacturing method.

If you want to approach this as "sheet metal", you want to probably look at this "top down" so the flat pattern would look like a "star".

you need to decide how many "flat" sections are acceptable to "develop" what you might see here from the sheet metal source.
