I am designing a retrofittable braking system compactible for vehicles that can be installed in vehicles which works upon detection of distracted or drowsy driving. Before completing the work I just got to know how people have faced the problem of falling asleep behind the wheel.
People who can genuinely help me can complete the survey and others who think that i am promoting my work can ignore this discussion instead of wasting their time commenting about their built-up taughts.
As far as I know, there is some kind protection from drowsy or sleepy people in modern cars (like vibrating steering wheel or loud audio signals). And due to the fact that most of the cars has ECU and ABS - you can simply add in the electrycal system a couple of sensors (which will be responsible for driving manner and analyzing data about drivers state) and write an appropriate code for ECU, so than it could stop the car (or slower it at least) when code will make a decision about bad state of the driver. To summarize all aforesaid - you need a couple different sensors, wires to connect all of it and code for ECU.
Editing the ECU code could result in Warranty Getting Void and No Updates and manufacturer support. We are developing a system which is non intrusive and does not tamper with the inbuilt software and components which help in normal working of the vehicle. Also the system can be incorporated in vehicles without ABS.
Moreover, ABS feature works only when the brakes are applied by the driver. What ABS feature does is to regulate the applied brake pressure to independent wheels in the case when the wheel tends to lock-up during braking process.
Therefore during drowsy or distracted driving the driver would not be conscious enough to apply the brakes to bring the ABS features into play.

We dont need more of those gimmicks in cars. It takes away the mechanical experience of driving a vehicle and distracts your attention with all the lights, pings and pongs.
The system we are working on will never interfere with or alter the mechanical experience provided by the vehicle. U could drive the car with stock experience. Only when drowsy or distracted driving condition is detect the system kicks into play to prevent or reduce the chances of any accidents caused due to the said issue. All the lights, pings and pongs alert the driver when he is distracted or drowsy....... Also it is completely your personal to have such systems in your vehicle or not... No one is entitled to force you to equip your vehicle with the said safety systems....
While driving, the driver always has subtle input to the steering wheel. If there is no input for a given time then the system should activate. If you have been driving for years the steering adjustments are subconscious.
With that input a second validation of driving is a minute G-force to the vehicle that persists with in-action of the steering wheel.
I hope that helps. I don't know much about surveys, but this idea would be simple to implement using a simple processor for input and outputs to braking or vibration stimulation.
