Surface modelling and all technique of modelling used in solidworks for plastic parts and metal sheets may be handful.
to learn all available tools its taking couple specialised training courses and thick books or tutorials. unfortunately I haven't seen any complete tutorial on youtube or Lynda com telling whole complete modelling method.
second: I found some good books but they have couple hundreds pages of tutorials, going thru them without dedicated time as during paid courses required serious dedication and motivation.
but its worth it.
books in electronic form could be purchased on google book or amazon store
for example all from series solidworks bible
there is no short way to learn - just demand from your self and be dedicated.
its take time but its worth it.
also all people interested in lofting of hull shape should learn hull shape design stages which is kind of standard in ship building industry.
I not remember how exactly it goes but I thik it may go like this:
- initial hull shape concept (modelling 3d)
- checking internal functionality for fittings, equipment and weight propagation, hull material tickness etc)
- making center of buoyancy known
- check hydrodynamic - power needed with some software
- if not happy with point 4 results -> optimise -> return to point 1.
- if happy with point 4 - start lofting and detailing primary hull structure
