Ordered and synchronous modes support two different approaches to modeling. It is hard to say which one is the best (both have strong points and drawbacks). Personally, I prefer the ordered mode when I start from scratch; the synchronous mode if very useful when you need to make changes on an imported model, that lost its history tree.

One huge drawback of Synchronous is that it doesn't support lofted flanges. At least not yet. One of the many reasons I prefer ordered mode.

With History based modeling being around for so long, the most difficult thing I find with synchronous mode is to enable the synchronous paradigm in your head, and using the hybrid method of modeling ( ordered and sync in the same model) is remembering to switch paradigms.

Synchronous is a powerful functionality, but has some constraints. Ordered is the original method, so is developed further - but still has it's challenges.

Then there is ability to have both (hybrid). Depending on the need, you may want to use one or the other, and in special circumstance a hybrid.

Ideation - synchronous can be a great use.

For programming and automation - Ordered is a must.

I've been using Solid Edge for over 20 years, before synchronous modeling was around. I tried to us this new feature, only to find out that it's good for relatively simple parts. I use the ordered approach almost exclusively.
