Thanks for clarifying the question. I suggest doing a little test to compare for yourself how long it takes to perform the shell command on the same model on SolidWorks, CATIA, and whatever other system you're curious about. Then you can also decide for yourself which system is "easiest"
Since I currently don't have access to both systems and I don't have your complex surface part model, I can't help you. But maybe someone else can.
