How to convert .SLDPRT files to .STEP files ?
How can we convert solidworks files to .STEP files, which is a common file format can be opened in many software versions.

This is another problem we encounter in using SolidWorks software package.

iges and step are most common. there is lot of information loss in these two format. whereas parasolid file retains most of the information.

Use GrabCAD Workbench. Upload you sldprt file to workbench then you can right click on the uploaded file and select "download as". You can download the file in the format of STEP, IGES, STL, Parasolid, ACIS, JT, or VRML.

Your procedure is correct, I did what you explained and everything was fine. I think you may have a problem with your software
