How to draw on curved surface in NX I-DEAS?

I am trying to model a tire in I-deas 6.1
I can not extrude on tire's curved surface.
Does anyone has ever used NX I-deas?

Does your NX I-deas 6.1 have the Master Surfacing add-on module?
If it does then use the Varialtional Sweep Feauture to sketch free form geometry. With V-sweep feature you can sketch cross sections across a path, there is also other surface operations like Surface-by-boundary, it creates n-sided surfaces from existing curves and edges with tangency control. its quite a complex operation but possible with general skills and patience. let me know if it helps.
