What my team (Piedmont VA CC) is doing to model our shell (in Inventor 2014) is drawing the cross sectional views looking at the chassis from the front and then connecting these cross sectional drawings using 3d sketches in order to form the shape properly around the car. The 2d drawings are then lofted using the 3d lines as guides for the shape of the shell. This may not be the best method but it seems to be working well enough for our purposes. What type of material are you using for the shell?
