I am unable to slide the pin along the base for the scissor lift. How can i do this using a pin? I would be grateful if anyone can help me.

At the moment, the pin is only revolving around its own axis. I also want it to move along the space made for it.

Do you have a slot mate as in SolidWorks?
If not, draw a line along the centre of the slot and make the centre of the pin coincident to that line.

You have multiple options but, I'll recommend using a "Slider" connection. It's the simplest one.

Obviously, the PIN is having only 1 Rotational DoF (that is why it is only rotating at a fixed point as you said). You need to free a translational DoF of Pin along the slot axis and define/limit the travel as required.

I've mostly used SolidWorks, but I am sure that similar options are available in other software as well. I guess you are using Creo for which you can follow following link:
