Lifting mechanism

im doing reverse engineering to a fixture , but my boss want a little "improvement" as you can see the horizontal move is actioned by the screw at the bottom that pass the Vblock , but they want a mechanism to move it in vertical, my first option was this a wedge mechanism but ... i dont knwo if it is the best to solve my issue , this is for pipe machining in CNC
