What is the design consideration for swivel pad in C-Clamp?

I am trying to design swivel pad to one of my fixture.
Can somebody answer/Post link for design of swivel pad.

Question:
1. Selection of retainer ring?
2. Diameter of the screw clamp head that will be inserted into the swivel pad?
3. Dimension tolerance of the swivel pad

Ever considered a 'swivot' or something similar?
