which software is the most versatile Rhino or Solid works?

solid works vs rhino

4 Answer

Rhino is more art software then mechanical whereas SolidWorks is a mechanical software. Rhino doesn't support mold/weldments etc but solidworks does. Where as rhino can work with meshes but solidworks can't. Rhino can be used for Conceptual design but solidworks for manufacturing plans.
Both the software are in different class, and depending upon application one can be more versatile then other.

east or west- Rhino is the best! Working with Rhino since ´Version 1.0. With all the crazy plugins like Tsplines, VRAY, RhinoCam etc. it´s a powerfull application.

I haven't had a chance to use Rino, however Solid Works to me is very versatile
I have been able to do a wide range of model. With addons such as Mathcad I wouldn't use anything else. It really depends on what you will be useing it for.

Well, it depends on what you're gonna do; rhino and solidworks are two similar softwares with different purposes. First, rhino is a NURBS (non-uniform rational B-spline) software and isn't parametric, Solidworks is parametric and has an actions tree.

To put it in a simple way, think about both softwares as people; rhino allows you to do anything you want without asking you "why are you doing this and how are you gonna do it?" while SW is gonna ask for every single move you do.

Rhino is more effective when you're working on the conceptual part, it allows you to make changes faster; and SW is way more effective for manufacturing processes and all the technical part.

Hope this help.
