3D Modeling and Animation of a Spherical Robot in 3DS Max - Part III

ANIMATION PROCESSES:
1. Animating the model: it is performed by creating keyframes in the track under the working space that can be adjusted, changed and deleted.
2. Animating a camera: it is analogously to step 1.
3. Rendering process: it is required to be completed before saving the final image or animation in a desired format.

  1. Step 1: Animating the model

    Given that in this case the robot is composed of a sphere and oval-shaped side elements, it is best to perform rotational movements along the three axes (x, y, z). For example, when the slider is positioned on the first frame after performing some movement (move, rotate, bend an elbow joint, if you are animating a "live" object), click the button with the Set Keys key. In this way, many movements can be created. Еach one being saved by clicking the Set keys.

    Open Mini Curve Editor opens a window to adjust the curve that is set to move the object. To see the animation itself, click the Auto Key button above the Set Key. The Play Animation button starts the animation in the working projection. Right-clicking on the Play Animation button opens a window where you can set settings for the speed at which the animation runs, as well as the number of frames.

    Settings are set by selecting Rendering from the main menu, then Render Setup: Time Output > Single. In Output Size, set the desired resolution, go to Render Output and check Save File, click on the File button and save the file in the selected format in the appropriate folder.

    Then the Render button is clicked to generate an image. To create a video, Rendering is also used, but unlike the case where only an image needs to be generated, here Render Setup > Range (Time Output) is set from 0 to 100 (number of frames). It is possible that the frames are more than 100. The animation duration depends on the number of frams - the more frames we have, the longer the animation lasts.
