Close loop.
Sometimes when you try to extrude or revolve a sketch, you only can select lines instead of a surface.
This is a very simple example, it just explains how you can close a loop.

You can see that the sketch is not fully constrained in the beginning.
That is the first thing you have to check.

In the beginning that you learn Inventor all your sketches should be fully constrained.
I' am sure there are other ways to fix an open loop.

  1. Step 1: Open Inventor and start a new part.

  3. Step 3: Finish sketch.



  4. Step 4: Choose Extrude.



  5. Step 5: When you click on “solid “ next thing happen.



  6. Step 6: When you click on the contoure for making an extrusion next thing happen.



  7. Step 7: Klick “ ok “ and “ cancel “ the extrusian. Then edit sketch.





  8. Step 8: Then select a line, Mouse Right Cklick and select “ Close Loop “



  9. Step 9: The following message wil pop up.




  10. Step 10: Select a curve. When you touch the curve it wil change in red color.



  11. Step 11: When you select it, the following wil happen.



  12. Step 12: Line color change



  13. Step 13: Pop up Loop Closed



  14. Step 14: Try to extrude and it works.
