Creating a New Template in SolidWorks

In this tutorial, we will learn how to create a custom template with the required dimensional units.

  1. Step 1:

Firstly, you have to open the file (Part, Assembly & Drawing) you want to create a template for. For example, If I want to create a template for my part file I will start with opening a new file.

Secondly, I will select options and choose document settings. I will change all the options according to my needs and click ok.

Finally, I will save that as Part template format. This will automatically save our file in the templates folder of our SolidWorks. So, when you open your SolidWorks you should be able to see your template. If you can not find it then assume that you are in a novice view. To see your templates you have to open the advance tab.

The following video might help you with this.
