How to Create a Revolved Surface in SOLIDWORKS

This tutorial will demonstrate how to create a revolved surface using SOLIDWORKS

  1. Step 1:

Start by creating a sketch using your line tool. Using the “sketch fillet” tool, add fillets to the corners of your sketch like the ones pictured below.

  2. Step 2:

After the fillets are set in all of the corners (don’t forget the small corner at the top), use your line tool to create a centerline that your sketch will revolve around.

  3. Step 3:

Once the centerline is in place, you’ll need to access your revolve tool. To do this, access your surfaces toolbox by right clicking on the toolbar at the top of your screen. A menu will drop down (pictured below). Select “Surfaces” and the surfaces toolbox will then appear on the left hand side of your screen. From this toolbox, select the “revolve” tool.

  4. Step 4:

This will automatically revolve your sketch around the centerline.

  5. Step 5:

The angle of revolving and the direction can be changed using the parameter tools.
