How to design the Tyre and Rim in AutoCAD 2004 ?

This is a tutorial for the model tutorial competiton and its about the design of tyre and rim in the AutoCad 2004

  1. Step 1:

Start AutoCAD and draw this profile. This will be tyre.

  2. Step 2:

Now draw the profile of the rim. Be sure to use polyline. If you used arcs and lines then use PEDIT command to join them.

  3. Step 3:

Draw a Construction line along X-axis.

  4. Step 4:

Use Revolve command and select the profile for rim.

  5. Step 5:

Revolve it about x-axis at 360º.

  6. Step 6:

Now we have the Rim body.

  7. Step 7:

Again revolve command and select the tyre profile.

  8. Step 8:

    Revolve it by 8º.

  9. Step 9:

    Now enter Rotate3D command.

  10. Step 10:

    Select the tyre part.

  11. Step 11:

    Along X-axis at -4º.

  12. Step 12:

Now draw these entities along the plane view using pline, pedit, rectangle. Any command.

  13. Step 13:

    Enter Revolve command.

  14. Step 14:

    Select the 2-entities.

  15. Step 15:

    About X-axis at 4º.

  16. Step 16:

    Now enter Subtract command.

  17. Step 17:

subtract the revolved part from tyre body.

  18. Step 18:

Revolve again and select the other two plines.

  19. Step 19:

    About X-axis at -4º.

  20. Step 20:

    Subtract them too.

  21. Step 21:

    Enter 3DArray command.

  22. Step 22:

    Select the tyre part.

  23. Step 23:

    Polar array type.

  24. Step 24:

Enter number of items be 45. This will complete the tyre since it was rotated at 8º, 8x45=360º.

  25. Step 25:

Now we have the Tyre body.

  26. Step 26:

    Plan>>Current View.

  27. Step 27:

Now we revolve two rectangle about x-axis at 360º.

  28. Step 28:

    Subtract them too.

  29. Step 29:

    Rotate the UCS.

  30. Step 30:

Plan>>Current view. Now use Cylinder command.

  31. Step 31:

    Construct the cylinder.

  32. Step 32:

    Move it to be symmetrical.

  33. Step 33:

    Use Array command.

  34. Step 34:

Polar array with 4 items.Subtract them from the rim.

  35. Step 35:

Now we have the basic body of tyre in AutoCAD 2004 Standard Version.
