How to model a truncated icosahedron with Autodesk Inventor
Mix 2D- and 3D sketches to create this platonic body.
-
Step 1: 1st polygon and 1st 3D sketch
First, draw a hexagon.
start a 3d sketch by projecting two sides. At the vertex start a line and dimension the angles.
-
Step 2: create work planes and continue sketching
with edges define the appropriate work planes and continue sketching one pentagon and another hexagon.
-
Step 3: circular pattern
make a pattern and with two edges, create the work plane for the next hexagon. continue with one more hexagon and a pentagon, pattern this group three times.
-
Step 4: work point, plane and mirror
Create a workpoint on edge, stitch all surfaces to one single surface body.
define plane with workpoint and top plane, then mirror
-
Step 5: move body
tt
use "move body" and rotate 60 degrees. stitch all.
