How to reset a model orientation to a known plane.

Once a model is set to a known plane, you will be able to rotate and adjust your model to any other plane orientation you choose.

  1. Step 1: Your model (current view)


    Notice the view cube and the orientation for FRONT & TOP

  2. Step 2: Your model (current FRONT)

  3. Step 3: Select LOOK AT

    if you select LOOK AT from your menu, then you select that face of your model you want to set to FRONT, Inventor will reset that face to your current view


  4. Step 4: After LOOK AT


    Inventor will FLY your model to bring the selected face to the plane

  5. Step 5: RESET view to FRONT

    Now RIGHT click on the VIEW CUBE and the context menu opens. Scroll down to SET CURRENT VIEW AS ....

    Then select FRONT.


  6. Step 6: Completed

    Now your model is set to a know ref plane and you model is set to that plane.

    You can now rotate or adjust your model to any other face and repeat STEP 5 again to get your model FRONT to the correct one for you.
