Involute profile in splines (3)

This is a continuation of the previous tutorial Involute profile in splines (2)
Involute profile in splines (2)

  1. Step 1: The Data

The diameter of the circle at which the involute begins and the diameter of which involutes ends can be found in tables of the different standards.

Take as an example an ANSI 92.1 internal spline with a pressure angle of 45 deg, spline pitch 24/48, and 28 teeth. Taking the data from the tables

    See the figure below.

  2. Step 2: Drawing the curve

The main values of the parameters can be seen below.

  3. Step 3: In Solidworks

Draw the basis of the hub. External diameter and internal diameter. Extrude it at the desired length.

  4. Step 4: Cutting the groove

  5. Step 5: Making an array

Make a circular pattern with 28 instances (28 Teeth).
