Time Saving Tricks Using Sketches (Part One)

Sketch contours enable you to use contours from a sketch for multiple features. When using Sketch Contours, you are not limited to one sketch per feature. An entire sketch, or just pieces of it, can be used multiple times enabling you to quickly create many features.

  1. Step 1:

Start by opening a sketch and creating a rectangle

  2. Step 2:

Create two closed contours, one at the top one at the bottom

  3. Step 3:

Set the two extruders to different heights

  4. Step 4:

Create an extruder for one of those close contours by selecting the contour and setting it at any height.

  5. Step 5:

Reuse your sketch, done one of two ways:

    A) Go into that sketch and create a feature from there

    B) Select the feature and select your sketch

  6. Step 6:

Once selected, adjust the height of that feature separately resulting in a second extruded feature at a different height.
