Tutorial: How to create an Angry Bird in Solidworks?

Imagination is the key for creating models of characters...... dimensions are not important, proportions are.... there is no particular method...... all methods are correct if you get the look is right.......:-))))))

  1. Step 1:

Create the basic shape profile.....e.g. an pressed oval...

  2. Step 2:

Revolve the profile to get a pressed oval.....

  3. Step 3:

On the right plane draw the sketch as shown.......

  4. Step 4:

Again on the right plane draw the sketch.........

  5. Step 5:

Use the base of the sketch drawn earlier as a reference point for the plane.....

  6. Step 6:

Draw a semi-circle on the plane just created....... make sure it pierces the earlier sketches.......

  7. Step 7:

Create a new plane as shown.......

  8. Step 8:

Draw the sketch on the new plane just created........

  9. Step 9:

Create a loft using the four sketches.......

  10. Step 10:

Redo the step 3-9 for creating another smaller loft......

  11. Step 11:

Mirror the lofts about right plane……

  12. Step 12:

Draw the sketch on the front plane.......

  13. Step 13:

Draw the sketch on the front plane.......

  14. Step 14:

    Extrude.....

  15. Step 15:

Extrude....... you can also extrude all in one go, then use split line function to separate the eyes, eyebrows etc......

  16. Step 16:

Use split line for the eyes........

  17. Step 17:

Create a plane using the front plane at the approximate location and draw the following sketch....... for the beak......

  18. Step 18:

Draw this on the right plane......

  19. Step 19:

    Create a plane as shown.......

  20. Step 20:

On the plane just created....... draw a curve piercing the two earlier sketches.....

  21. Step 21:

Create a loft for the upper portion of the beak using the three sketches....

  22. Step 22:

Mirror the upper portion of the beak.......

  23. Step 23:

Use similar steps for creating the lower portion of the beak........

  24. Step 24:

Mirror the lower portion of the beak.......

  25. Step 25:

Draw this sketch on the right plane for the tail......

  26. Step 26:

Revolve the sketch...... about 20-25 degrees...... to create the tail........ Create a plane as shown......

  27. Step 27:

    Create a plane as shown……

  28. Step 28:

Draw a curve as shown and use the split line function to create a partition for the red and white colors.......

  29. Step 29:

If you missed the split line for the eyeballs...(like I did).... do it now..;-)

  30. Step 30:

Give the appropriate colors to the bird.....

  31. Step 31:

    And then render it out............
