Tutorial: How to model a BBS LM wheel in Solidworks and show design intent.

ARRRGHHH! I can't add a new step to the previous answer.

  1. Step 1:

Some more of our old friend, the fillet:

  2. Step 2:

That's a good looking face plate. As far as I'm concerned, we only need to cut the holes for the bolts that attach the plate to the barrel, and we're good to go:

  3. Step 3:

I don't even care to "drill" the inner holes. I will not shot renders without the bolts in place.

  4. Step 4:

    Goddangit. That's a proper wheel.

  5. Step 5:

    FINAL TOUCHES

Yeah you could go all crazy with the proper stamps in the face plate (I probably will). Or use a render engine that allows real geometry displacement (my advice). But the important bits that are necessary are the lug nuts and, face plate bolts and the center cap. I will not model any. Why? Because I found some ok models here on GrabCad:

  6. Step 6:

    Oh wait...

Well anyway, that's what I advice you to do: use other parts when available. If the uploader allows, modify them to meet your needs (wants) and call it a day. This is not lazy. This is smart. So without further ado, this is what I call a close model of a BBS LM wheel:
