Tutorial on Modeling of Tennis Ball in SolidEdge ST4.

  1. Step 1:

    Start SolidEdge in ISO Part Mode.

  2. Step 2:

    Select Circle tool.

  3. Step 3:

    Hover the mouse on Front plane.

  4. Step 4:

    Press F3 to lock the plane.

  5. Step 5:

    Keep the mouse on the origin while the axis are selected.

  6. Step 6:

    Make a circle of 60mm diameter on origin.

  7. Step 7:

    Select Line tool.

  8. Step 8:

    Select the upper point along Z-axis.

  9. Step 9:

    Select the lower point

  10. Step 10:

    Select Trim tool.

  11. Step 11:

    Trim away the circle.

  12. Step 12:

    Click Select tool.

  13. Step 13:

    Select the region.

  14. Step 14:

    Select Revolve.

  15. Step 15:

    Change the revolution type to 360.

  16. Step 16:

    Click the revolution axis.

  17. Step 17:

    Select the line along Z-axis.

  18. Step 18:

    Now we have created the ball body.

  19. Step 19:

    Select line tool.

  20. Step 20:

    Select Front Plane by keeping mouse pointer on it.

  21. Step 21:

    Press F3.

  22. Step 22:

    Press Ctrl+F for Front view.

  23. Step 23:

    Click along X-axis.

  24. Step 24:

    Height of line is 16 and angle is 90.00º.

  25. Step 25:

    Draw it till the z-axis.

  26. Step 26:

    Select the circle tool.

  27. Step 27:

    Select origin.

  28. Step 28:

    Draw a circle coincident to the end point.

  29. Step 29:

    Again Line tool.

  30. Step 30:

    Click the circle point about Z axis.

  31. Step 31:

    Draw the line with the same length.

  32. Step 32:

    Delete the vertical line.

  33. Step 33:

    Select the trim tool.

  34. Step 34:

    Trim the inner circle.

  35. Step 35:

    Under surfacing tab select Extruded.

  36. Step 36:

    Select the sketch.

  37. Step 37:

    Click Accept.

  38. Step 38:

    Extrude it symmetrically such that it passes through the ball body.

  39. Step 39:

    Click Finish.

  40. Step 40:

    Select Intersection.

  41. Step 41:

    Select Both Surfaces.

  42. Step 42:

    Click Finish.

  43. Step 43:

    Select the Extrude1 in Path finder and then Hide it by unchecking it.

  44. Step 44:

    Now we have the curve.

  45. Step 45:

    Select circle tool and then hover the mouse over front plane.

  46. Step 46:

    Press F3 to lock it.

  47. Step 47:

    Ctrl+F to Front view.

  48. Step 48:

    Draw a circle of 2.84mm diameter coincident to the cicular surface and the curve.

    Select Swept cutout under cut feature.

  50. Step 50:

    Click OK.

  51. Step 51:

    Select the curve.

  52. Step 52:

    Now Select the circle as the profile.

  53. Step 53:

    Click Finish.

  54. Step 54:

    Select Round tool.

  55. Step 55:

    Round both these edges by 0.50mm.

  56. Step 56:

    Right click to accept. Now click Select tool.

  57. Step 57:

    Now the ball is ready.
