Cryptos have survived for years and are clearly here to stay. Maybe we cannot predict to which shape or form cryptos will evolve in the next two, three decades, but the technology will help us modify, change and eventually replace the current monetary system a a whole, within the next one....And that is a centainty! I do see a great potential in the following:... a decentral cryptosociety working with regulators (...also goverments), - if the main-goal stays clear: a more honest world... 

I highly disagree on the threat part, Cryptos have never been and will never be a threat to nothing and nobody. It's just those 'poor' journalists who are keeping stirring up the fires to confuse the masses of the people. Maybe it's because they themselves can feel some kind of threat, f.e. people stop beleiving in 'fake news', and starting educating themselves about what is coming in a world that's changing faster and faster and faster. But even the big banks have declared that they as well as their clients could well profit from this 'new' technology.

Slightly confused how you think crypto will not be a threat to anyone.

Banks clearly see crypto as a threat ! they are doing everything in their power to stop crypto. Just google regulations on crypto currency. Banking sector have already strong armed politicians all over the world to try to blockade and stop people getting crypto. Visa card now blocking people buying crypto. Banks now blocking all credit card payments to buy bitcoin and crypto currency ?

Some examples of who it threatens.

Stock traders. What happens to the traders when you cut them out as middle men and trade stock direct with crypto. They will no longer get their commission on every trade. No commission no profit, no job.

Banks. What happens to bank transaction fees if people use crypto transactions instead. no bank transactions no transaction profits for the banks.

Bank & savings accounts: What happens to the banks when people store their digital currency themselves and no longer need bank savings accounts. Banks will no longer be able to use their money to play with for investments and loans. No money to play with no profits.

Bank currency conversion fees: What happens to banking sector international currency conversion fees on every transaction if people start direct transfers using crypto. No one would need currency conversion with crypto. Once again no profits for the banks.

Banks stand to lose enormous profits from crypto and they know it.

China recently banned crypto currency since it is a threat to their own currency as they directly control the price in the marketplace and also China uses its currency as a weapon of the trade war with US tariffs.

Also China doesn't want its GNP to be diluted or uncontrolled by its direct government under its own currency. It is why it stopped accepting the most common and accepted currency in the world - the US dollar.

So if Chinese citizens have direct control of their own currency regardless of Chinese government intervention they are not stuck within their own markets - good for them but bad for their government.

Also the crypto currency is valued on demand throughout the world, but it is also 'unsecured' - meaning that it is NOT tied to an form of economic GNP output and can float on pure demand - just like a stock.

However even stocks have a futures valuation based upon market expectations and crypto does not really have any market expectations - only pure demand. Something only becomes 'worth' something if people value it. Once no one values it, its worth becomes less until it becomes worthless to anyone; just like penny stocks.
