How to run 2 different versions of FreeCAD on the same OS ?

I want to have two different versions of FreeCAD, one demo version and one working version. But to avoid errors, configuration files must not be stored in the same place. I saw that there were several topics on the in the user forum but if anyone here has a simple procedure to follow, I'm interested.

Apparently you need to compile FreeCAD. Does anyone use this method?

I have installed a version of FreeCAD 0.20.1 next to my FreeCAD Link version and it seems that the 2 do not conflict. I'll see how it goes.
