It is just about impossible to navigate the GrabCAD site today (from Europe).
It is like being back on a dial-up modem in 1995:
WTF is going on? Is the old girl going down or is a search and rescue operation underway?
Just wondering. This is 2023, not 1995 (I think)!
Hi. We're aware of the problem and already working on it. Thank you for your patience. We will write the updates here.
Glad it wasn't just me. I was experiencing 404's and having to F5 a lot. Did remind me of dial up too. Had me doing a speed check to make sure it wasn't my end.
The problems should be fixed now.
We're still investigating the cause and how to prevent it from ever happening again.
In the meantime, please let me know if you still have any problems.
There is more not functioning like it used to be....I have reported this member and his (stakeholder) models several times....But this guy is still going ahead with uploading these kind of models,: https://grabcad.com/library/building-mondrian-1 Perhaps the reporting system also needs a thorough check up..
Thanks for letting us know.
Reports are manually handled by our customer support team. I will redirect your message to them.
In the meantime, I have hidden the uploads of this user with no actual model.
"Thanks for letting us know"....???? This community is run over by guys who believe this is a playground, and I know for a fact that lots of "concerned" members send in reports, but hardly any responce from the GC team....You have made rules, so why not enforce them??? Keywords, duplicated models, renders that don't reflect the CAD files, uploaded (stolen) work from the other 3D websites, comments "decorated" with childish images, etc, etc, ......Perhaps it's time to clean house....
I uploaded two of my model designs very recently (one a plastic universal infrared remote control, the other a thermoforming mold for producing the ABS plastic remote control housing itself). However, the model uploads never produced preview images, and when you open both via GrabCAD's 3D Viewer and/or interface it gives an error message that states: "Working... Preparing 3D viewer for this file, please check back later or reload the viewer." It has been this way since I uploaded them several days ago.
However, the files themselves are downloadable and accessible when opened in Solidworks perfectly. I have never had any of my uploaded designs have this issue before, and I haven't had the time to upload any other of my models / designs due to a huge career NASA deadline coming up on 3/23/23. So, I have no idea if my next uploads will work properly or not.
Anyone else have this issue, or seen this issue?!?
There are several CAD-formats that are not supported by the GrabCAD viewer. Are you using a late version of Solidworks?
Sorry guys but you still didn't understand to what GrabCAD turned out.
The original idea died since Stratasys took over. In fact is GrabCAD right now just a nuisance for them because it didn't evolved to that what they planed. There are many other basic functions that doesn't work any more since they changed the engine of the page. Functions like notifications of uploaded models from followed members. There are years since I told them about it but nothing happened. Once said https://grabcad.com/yasin.aydin.gc.staff-1, I think, that "we are working on that". How demanding can be to fix something like that? In another discussion said https://grabcad.com/mikk.olli that
"Currently as a follower you can see new models uploaded by the people you are following on the Library page with the Following filter.
We definitely want to make this feature more powerful in the near future and give more updates."
That was in july 2018. I think we all know what happened since then.
More powerful? Boy, make it work first! What you say sounds like to make out a hawk from a dead pidgeon.
I can bet that on any cinese clone of GrabCAD this functions are working very well. Perhaps should the GrabCAD maitenance crew a deeper look on this clone sites and learn how it works. It's just a thought ...
You are so right, but unfortunately you forgot to mention one phrase from the GC team,
"Thanks for letting us know.
Reports are manually handled by our customer support team. I will redirect your message to them." and guess what happens than..??
I know exactly what happened, the reports are going in a special deposit. We have in Austria a special name for it "die Rundablage"= the round shelf, meaning the trash bin.
I am using 2022-2023 version currently.
I am pretty sure that the GrabCAD viewer doesn't like this version. GrabCAD employees should be able to confirm.
Since workbench is being discontinued, they may not want to throw any more ressources at updating viewers? Time will tell - GrabCAD doesn't tell us anything.
GrabCAD uses a 3rd party component to provide render models.
Soon we will upgrade this component to its latest version, which will support newer file formats like Solidworkds 2022/2023.
Here we go again:
Maybe Mr. Blue's 517 fake followers have overloaded the page trying to download his 7 latest incomplete models, all at the same time?
Or possibly the latest Viagra and Oxycontin spammers are doing great business? All I know is, that whatever is happening doesn't benefit the community!
