What is a follower?

I think the recent updates to the Profile pages are great, it is not easy to see who is a follower, and who is being followed.

This week I've started following a few of the most active members just to see what happens. I tried this before, but I think it just led to a notification that they had uploaded a model in the library.

Is there a definitive answer on what followers do? What they see?

To me the follower system would work like this:

If I follow Mikk Olli, then I get a notification every time Mikk uploads a model, posts a tutorial, answers a question, makes a Group post, leaves a comment, or presses the reaction buttons. The "Follow" button could essentially be re-named the "Cyber Stalk" button.

Ideally I'd be able to toggle notification options for each person I follow. For example, I want a notification when Member-XYZ uploads a model, but because they always write in a foreign language, I don't want a notification from them in other areas which are text related.
