GrabCAD Groups Feedback

That is a great idea CadCloud I am up for it too, however it could also mean that people will upload just to make money and we will lose the purpose of Grabcad which is to share model for free.

People do it. They upload an image of the complete model, upload only a few parts of said model, then add in the description where you can go to download (and pay for) the full model.

Personally I think GrabCAD is the wrong place for such models. The "rules" already state the image(s) uploaded must represent the 3D CAD data. If I find a complete rendering, but missing CAD data, I press the Report button.

This will be a useless site when library models are incomplete but have links to another site. I'm not opposed to anyone making money for their models, but there are other sites designed for selling CAD models.

You/they could use GrabCAD as a marketing aid. Upload excellent, complete models here for free, then in your profile and model pages mention how people can contact you for custom models, or provide links to other sites where models are being sold.

Just wanted to weigh in here. For those who do not know me, I'm the Community Support Manager at GrabCAD, and I wanted to state on the record that we do NOT allow our members to upload incomplete models or to charge money for their work. To quote from the GrabCAD Community Values & Guidelines:

"Do not try to make GrabCAD members pay for your model. While some of our members create their designs and models for the love of the craft, and are happy to share their work for free, others look to CAD development as their livelihood and career, and are looking to be financially compensated for their work. GrabCAD is a free model-sharing community, and our content should be available to anyone who signs up. Anyone who wants to charge for their models should instead check out CGTrader, where they are allowed to do so. But charging for GrabCAD models is not allowed."

If you see anyone violating this, please report their model(s) to me right away, and I'll make sure it's looked into. First offenders typically get a warning, but repeated violations can lead to account blocking or removal.

Iam now getting insulting e-mails from "Nevres" and he is adding stupid comments on my Models can this be stopped. I have reported this to Grabcad but no reaction as off now !
